Do people write fan letters anymore? Or have they been replaced by replies on twitter? If the majority of fan mail is anywhere as insipid as the bulk of @[celebrity]’s I see on twitter, well, I suppose there’s a reason why we are fans and not successful in our own right.

Today I considered mailing hand-written expressions of gratitude for every ‘like’ and ‘reply’ that I received from my peers of social networking. I think they’d all end up feeling pretty appreciative for being my Internet friend.
